We often hear Managers proclaim amazing ROI figures, then find their figures are inaccurate. For example, Tim’s campaign costs £75,000 and generates £150,000 of sales. He proudly tells his colleagues he achieved 100% ROI.
Wrong.
Meaningful ROI is calculated on profit, not sales. So how does this affect Tim’s figures? Let’s say his company’s average profit margin is 50%. That means his profit was £75,000, so the equation looks like this…
(£75,000 – £75,000) / £75,000
